This page is brand new, so enjoy our first few tips as we handpick more.  We will add to these very soon.

                      Engagements, Weddings & Honeymoons

#2- Create Your Own Paparazzi

Get as many photographs & videos as you possibly can!  Hire photographers & videographers, enlist family & friends, hand out disposable cameras...let your imagine run wild.  You will want as much coverage of this wonderful time as you can possibly get!

All this is in addition to your posed wedding photos, of course.  You'll look back on hundreds of candid photos & crack up!  It's amazing what great shots you end up with.

#1- It WILL Fly!

What everyone says is true...your wedding day will be an absolute blur!  Make sure you consciously stop a few times during the day & take a mental & emotional snapshot of that moment.  You'll need a couple of landmarks like that just to prove to yourself that you were actually there!  (Yes, it goes that fast.)

Pregnancy, Childbirth & Being a New Mom

#2-  Go On A Babymoon

My Mom introduced me to this new trend & I adore it!  You can go before or after the baby is born, but make plans to get out of the house for a couple of days.

Some folks like to go before the birth to savor their last "alone time" with their spouse/"baby-daddy".  Quiet time where the two of you can just leisurely enjoy a fancy dinner while gazing into each others' eyes is about to be replaced by midnight feedings & way too much re-heated take-out food.

Other folks wait until after the baby is born & settled.  As soon as you can handle leaving him/her alone overnight, do it!  Make sure baby is sleeping 5-6 hours at night, find someone you trust & book a hotel room.  The upside to waiting until after the baby comes is that you may enjoy a mimosa with your breakfast in bed.

My personal recommendation is www.SeeTheWorldMore.com.  You can book a hotel room down the street or go on a 14-day cruise...whatever suits your mood.  (This site also saves you a significant amount of that much-needed diaper money.)

#1-  Let It Go

It pains me to write this.  I have been told by some that I border on being a control freak.  Then I corrected their grammar, picked a piece of lint off their shirt & told them to bite me!

Childbirth & motherhood have one thing in common: unpredictablility!

Every time you turn around, there will be something else that you have no control over.

Just make peace with that right now, so when those moments happen you will be less surprised.  It took a lot of prayer on my part & will take plenty more, but I am getting better every day.

Even the biggest catastrophies will end up seeming smaller when you look back on them.
